The Cabin History
Wild Horse Cabin was originally known as the “Hippie Cabin“and was built in the 70‘s by a young group of hippies from California, looking to live off the land and function as a commune.
They cut and hand hued the local trees and painstakingly gathered and used natural materials to chink and craft this unique place.

Wild Horse Cabin was originally known as the “Hippie Cabin“and was built in the 70‘s by a young group of hippies from California, looking to live off the land and function as a commune.
They cut and hand hued the local trees and painstakingly gathered and used natural materials to chink and craft this unique place.
The next owners were preparing for the end of the world during Y2K. (the year 2000)
Stockpiles of canned food and supplies filled every structure on the property and countless barrels of gasoline were made ready for when the "world shut down" at the stroke of midnight on December 31,1999.
Allen and Linda Klark purchased the property in 2017 and decided to create their own history by working hard to restore and improve the cabin and property for others to enjoy. They retired in 2021 and now live close by, but far enough away, to provide a secluded paradise surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness where the wild horses still roam free on Blackjack Mountain.
